Target dress apology: 'Manatee gray' found offensive

Target has, once again, put itself in the middle of a public relations nightmare. According to an April 5 report by The Hollywood Gossip, they advertised a plus-size dress as “manatee gray.” The same dress, in a standard size was advertised as “heather gray.”

Target is now back pedaling, claiming this incident was an “unintended oversight.” They apologized for “any discomfort” that the advertisment on their website might have caused.

“Target needs to be very careful,” Sandy Powers, from Oklahoma City, said. “After what they did to the Salvation Army, I'm surprised anyone shops there. They really don't think about what they are doing.”

This is just another publication relations mistake made by Target. It wasn't that long ago, Target banned Salvation Army bell ringers from collecting donations outside their stores. This did not set well with millions, many of them boycotting the retail store.

The plus size dress in “manatee gray” has been removed from their website. At the time of publication, it was unknown just how this mistake will impact Target's sales.
