Target, one of the number one retailers in America, has issued an apology to its customers over the labeling of their dresses on their online site.
A shopper, Susan Clemons, was looking through the Target.com site at dresses, and got extremely angry when she saw what the retail store had called the color of a dress in the plus size version compared to the name of the exact same dress in the standard regular size.
The dress for the standard size had a color called, Dark Heather Gray, while the plus size dress was called, Manatee Gray.
A Manatee in case you do not know is a rather large gray mammal.
The shopper contacted Target to let them know of the issue she had and they ended up delivering an apology.
She tweeted,
"What the. Plus sized women get 'Manatee Grey' while standard sizes are 'Dark Heather Grey.'"
Target has said that the mix-up was because the two different teams of buyers,one for the plus size and one for standard sizes, who handled the Mossimo dresses, had an issue with communication.
Spokesperson Joshua Thomas of Target said this;
"Manatee Gray is a common color name for many of our products in store and online."
If you do a search on the Target.com site you will see that many items including pillows, shirts, and other items have the name Manatee Gray to describe it.
After Susan tweeted her displeasure, Target responded quickly;
'We apologize for this unintentional oversight and never intend to offend our guests. We've heard you, and we're working to fix it ASAP."
They removed the Manatee Gray description from the plus size dress and changed it to match the regular size description.
Many people who saw the tweet and the photos of the dresses with the labeling of the colors, were angry and upset as well.
Target usually uses that color to describe items that do not have sizes and said it will not happen again.
