Tampa's ham radio club, TARC, is holding its 31st tailgate swapfest at their clubhouse on N. 22nd Street on Jan. 11, 2014. This is the infamous "snowbird" tailgate and radio flea market, with about 200 attendees. TARCFest continues to get bigger with record numbers of sellers and buyers. This January, the traders will once again gather under the shade trees at the clubhouse to wheel and deal. There are always loads of electronic parts, tubes, vintage equipment, radios, power amps, test equipment, and everything imaginable. Bring your "junque" and sell it. The Club expects around 35++ sellers; get your space reservations in today.
Admission is $3 per person, children 12 and under are free. Those who wish to set up for tailgating will be charged an additional $3. Plenty of spaces will be available in the tailgate area for sellers. And of course, free parking is available onsite for the buyers. There are a limited number of indoor spaces inside the clubhouse, price is $15.00/table, in advance. For table reservations or for further information, please contact: Bill Bode, N4WEB, 14302 Capitol Drive, Tampa, FL 33613, Phone: (813) 382-9262, Fax: (813) 878-7954, or Email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The swapfest is easy to drive to: just take Hillsborough Ave. on the east side of Tampa, go north on 22nd St., cross Sligh Ave., stay on 22nd St., and the hamfest/swap meet is at the dead end of 22nd St. at the Clubhouse. Set up for tailgaters begins at 7:00am, and trading opens up at 8:00am for the buyers. [You may want to get there a little early so you don't miss a deal.] The tailgate runs usually until about 1:00pm or until the cash is gone. Talk In will be on the 147.105 repeater (PL 146.2). The public is welcome. Come over and see what ham radio is all about. Click on this link for more information about TARC and the swapfest.
