Tap-In News: Golf-O-Max tees up after school golf for juniors

Golf-O-Max has put together a Kids After School Golf program.

Junior golfers up to 18 years old can play or practice on Mondays and Tuesdays between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. The costs are $10 for nine holes or 18 holes for $15.

The practice fee is $5 for 30 minutes and coaching by a PGA of Canada professional can be reserved on Mondays at $10 per half an hour.

Golf-O-Max has also held over the popular play in your shorts special. When players golf in their shorts, they get $5 off the 18-hole green fee.

Angus Glen to host World Junior Girls' Golf championship

Many of the best young female players are planning a trip to Canada in 2014 now that Golf Canada has created the World Junior Girls’ Golf Championship.

The inaugural international championship will be contested Sept. 26 to Oct. 1 at the Angus Glen Golf Club in Markham. The event will be conducted by Golf Canada in partnership with the Golf Association of Ontario.

The championship will feature three-player teams of athletes under the age of 18 representing 15 countries. As host country, Canada will field a second squad in the competition.

The 16-team field will compete over 72 holes for both individual and team honours.
