Tanay Jackson may carry on the Jackson name with a famous father and uncle, but she can definitely carry her own in the music world. Here, Tanay talked to Examiner about her recent European tour and new music she is working on. Here's what she had to say:
Examiner: Please tell the readers about the European Tour you just wrapped up:
TJ: The European tour I just did was absolutely wonderful. The only time I had gone to Europe is when I went to England once before, because my mum has family in England, but I had never been to any other places apart from there. This time when I went, I went to France (the people in France were very, very nice), then I went to Romania, where I did the big show. I got so much love, I got so much appreciation and the one thing I took a lot of pride in, is that no one was asked to perform in Romania, except for my uncle Michael (Jackson). No one in the family was ever asked to perform after him, except for me.
Examiner: Wow! This must have been a real honor for you and did you feel that it opened doors for you?
TJ: I wasn't really concerned about it opening doors for me, I was more concerned about the experience. It really took me a long time to get to Romania, during traveling, I didn't recall seeing sunlight. This is because of the time difference and flying to different places. I had missed my flight in France going to Romania as I got sick on Air France and it was really a journey, but when I got there, it was so worth it!
Examiner: What were your fans like?
TJ: The people were very kind. I was surprised to see how a lot of people knew how to speak English. A lot of Romanian people knew how to speak english. They have their own language also. They gave me so many gifts such as a book on Romania, Romanian coffee, Romanian Wine and some traditional Romanian clothing for women. They really gave me a lot and to return the favor, I made them a Romanian flag out of satin and gave it to them in the form of a shawl. So whoever gets it, can wear it like a shawl or scarf.
Examiner: What are you currently working on Tanay?
TJ: Right now I am doing a single, I have some singles right now such as “Addicted”, “Rolling Poppin” (Feat Jonathan Timber ) and “Its Over”. I'm going to the Carolina's to work on the video and that's what I am working on right now.
Examiner: Tell us about the recent photoshoot you did in San Francisco:
TJ: There's a magazine by the name of GEV. They had heard a lot of buzz about me and invited me to come and do a 3 page spread as well as the cover. It was a 60's inspired shoot! So I was more than happy to do this. My management are also working on a deal to get me to Miami for Telemundo (Spanish TV).
Examiner: Do you speak Spanish pretty fluently?
TJ: I speak Spanish pretty fluent, I have a lot of hispanic friends, my mom is from South America, so I comprehend it very well. If someone speaks to me in Spanish, I am able to respond in Spanglish.
Examiner: What is the video you will be shooting soon?
TJ: I will be filming “Addicted”. I have already come up with the concept. I can't say too much about it, but they are going to shoot it as a movie and thats what they plan to do.
Examiner: Where can your fans keep updated on your news?
TJ: I usually try to post much as I can to encourage fans to come and check out any shows/events I am doing. I have had some fans from my facebook page come and check me out if I am performing in their city and a lot of fans come out to events that are usually free.I really appreciate their efforts to come out and meet me.
Examiner: What do you attribute to your amazingly fit body?
TJ: Nicole Broadus who is phenomenal. She's a personal trainer, her husband's a trainer and even her two kids, she has them in shape! She is no joke and has a fitness camp in New Jersey, where she only trains women. She takes you too a little retreat/cabin and puts you on a liquid diet. She cooks for you everyday. It is not just a liquid diet, where you never eat, you can also have unsalted almonds, cucumber, things that are liquid like and are good to burn off. Nicole trains you and exercises you and helps you lose the pounds in a week. She also trains a lot of celebrities.
Examiner: Well Tanay, you look fantastic! Is there a message you would like to get out there for your fans?
TJ: I wish everybody a happy and safe holiday and to connect with your loved ones- that's where you get your strength from when you connect with your family. I want the new year to come in good for all the people that deserve it. 2014, I am going to hope is a great year. Every year, you wish for a phenomenal year and plan it out, but I am going to hope 2014 is amazing and stays stable.
Examiner: You are a definite inspiration to all the strong women out there, thanks Tanay!
