Tampa Tribune story links Giants tight end Martellus Bennett to the Buccaneers (Photos)

The Tampa Bay Buccanneers are expected to go after New York Giants free agent tight end Martellus Bennett in free agency.

The report was first written by Roy Cummings in the Tampa Tribune. And Cummings says he would be surprised if the Bucs do not target Bennett once free agency opens on March 12th.

Bennett has said that his desire is to return to the Giants. And he is willing to given the Giants a hometown discount to stay with the team.

Yet, Martellus' brother, Michael, has been with the Buccanneers for the past four years. He is also a free agent.

And the two have previously expressed an interest in playing together.

The former Texas A&M player has spent his young career in the NFC East by playing for the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants. He spent his first four years with the Cowboys from 2008 through 2011, before signing a one-year deal with the Giants last season.

He had a career-high 54 receptions last season for 611 yards. He averaged 11.3 yards per catch and had 5 touchdowns.

His previous best season came in 2008, his rookie year, with 283 yards.
