TAMPA - There are many things that people may expect to find while visiting any airport in a post 9/11 America including stricter passenger screenings, more security personal, and longer wait times. One thing most people would not expect to find is a live rock band performing on a stage in the airside terminal, but that is exactly what you will find if you visit Tampa International Airport.

Nearly two years ago, the Tampa International Airport introduced their “Friday Flight” concert series which takes place on one Friday every month. The original concept and goal of “Friday Flight” was to entertain travelers, as well as to showcase the talented bands and acts that the Tampa Bay area has to offer. Each monthly show features a different local band performing from 4:30pm-6:30pm on a stage that is located between Airsides A & C inside the main airport terminal.

The first “Friday Flight” show was held on October 5th, 2012, and featured Tampa band, The Vodkanauts. Since the shows debut in 2012, many area bands have taken the stage at the “Friday Flight” concert series including The Griswalds, Doll Parts, and Echo 84, just to name a few.

Local bands who would like to audition for the monthly “Friday Flight” concert series should send an EPK to Maria Cook at m.cook@tampaairport.com. Band EPK’s should include song samples, a band/artist bio, high resolution promo shots, and contact information. Both cover and original bands of all genres are considered for booking.
