The Tampa Bay Krewe Rugby Football Club (RFC) defeated the Jacksonville (Fla.) RFC on the Krewe’s home pitch at Cuscaden Park on Saturday afternoon. The 46 to 16 victory for Tampa Bay improves the club’s record to six wins, no losses, and one tie; and allows the Krewe to remain the only undefeated Division II rugby club in Florida.
Breaking down the scoring for the game
For the game, the Tampa Bay Krewe scored eight tries and three conversions to reach 46 points. The Jacksonville RFC was limited to two tries and two successful penalty kicks for their 16 points. The Krewe ended the first half with a lead of 34 to 0, and Jacksonville could not make the adjustments necessary to reclaim the game during the second half.
Other rugby action from across Florida on Saturday
The Boca Raton Buccaneers RFC defeated the Miami Tridents RFC by a score of 38 to 3 on Saturday. The Buccaneers earned their 38 points through five tries, five conversions, and one penalty kick. Meanwhile, the Tridents were limited to one three point penalty kick for the entire match.
However, not everything was good news for Boca Raton on Saturday. The Buccaneers “B” side lost to the Palm Beach Panthers Division II squad by a score of 29 to 3. This clubs played this match at the conclusion of the Buccaneers versus Tridents game.
Finally, the Miami RFC hosted the Fort Lauderdale Knights RFC in what turned out to be a much closer game. The final score was Fort Lauderdale 16 to Miami 14.
The Knights successfully scored two tries and two penalty kicks to earn their 16 points. The Miami RFC relied on one try and three penalty kicks to reach 14 points. Neither of the clubs successfully converted any tries.
