Tampa Bay teams upset opponents over the weekend

The University of South Florida (USF) Bulls traveled to Orlando to play the University of Central Florida (UCF) Knights. UCF had beaten USF in the Florida Cup back in October, and the Knights actually finished the tournament as runners-up to the University of Florida. However, in their first SIRC game at the Division One Level, the USF Bulls defeated the UCF Knights 13 to 0. The Bulls scored ten of their points in the first half. However, the Bulls struggled to hold the Knights back in the second half, and were limited to a penalty kick. Players responsible for scoring in the game were Alistar Brice (two penalty kicks and a try conversion, eight points), and Brian Skvarch scored the game’s lone try (five points).

Coach Campbell had the following words to say about his team’s performance: “I think there are two things. One, I think because that they beat us quite handily last time, it was the old psyche. Two, our guys got out a hundred miles an hour and never let up.” This victory places the Bulls in second place (1-0), behind Florida State (2-0). USF will host Florida Atlantic University at Fowler Field on Saturday afternoon.  Game time details will be provided later in the week.
