Tampa Bay Kids Triathlon returns to Adventure Island® on March 22

On Saturday, March 22 at 7:15 a.m., Adventure Island® in conjunction with the Tampa Bay Sports Commission will once again host the Tampa Bay Kids Triathlon. The event provides participants the opportunity to run, bike and swim in and around Busch Gardens® Tampa’s premier water park, Adventure Island.

“We’re pleased to partner with Adventure Island again to build on last year’s success of trying to create one of the nation’s premier youth triathlons, the Tampa Bay Kids Triathlon,” said Rob Higgins, executive director of the TBSC. “From the swim taking place in the park’s Rambling Bayou to the entertainment Adventure Island and Busch Gardens are providing, we’re confident this will be a memorable event for all involved.”

Kids ages 6-10 (junior varsity division) and 11-14 (varsity division) are eligible to participate. The first 450 registrants will receive a complimentary race-day ‘Stay and Play’ ticket to Adventure Island. Participants will also collect a race day “Swag Bag,” which includes an Under Armour T-shirt. All competitors will be receive a finisher’s medal upon completion of the race, with the top three in each category earning a trophy and an additional Adventure Island ticket to recognize their achievement.

Additionally, participants onsite will have the chance to enter and win a youth Specialized brand road bike, courtesy of Cycle Sports Concepts. Cycle Sports will also serve as the official bike technicians for the USA Triathlon-sanctioned event, with timing manufactured by Alta Vista.

From the moment guests enter Adventure Island®, they are immersed in a Key West-themed paradise. The 40-acre water park features thrilling slides and tube rides, including Riptide, Wahoo Run®, Key West Rapids, Runaway Rapids, Everglides®, Calypso Coaster, Aruba Tuba, Caribbean Corkscrew®, Water Moccasin and Gulf Scream. Guests can also kick back on the beach or in the 17,000-square-foot wave pool, play on professional sand volleyball courts, breeze through the tropical gift shop or let the current sweep them through a half-mile of lush landscapes and tropical waterfalls on the Rambling Bayou.
