The Tampa Bay Area Krewe Rugby Football Club (RFC) will host the Daytona Beach Coconuts RFC on Saturday as the Krewe fights for the final playoff spot. The match, which kicks off at 2 p.m., will take place on Tampa’s home pitch at Cuscaden Park, 2900 North 15th St, just north of Tampa's Ybor City entertainment district.
Currently, the Tampa Bay Krewe has five wins and four losses, and ranks in fifth place among the nine clubs that make up Florida Division II (D-II) Rugby Union. The Krewe needs a win on Saturday, and a loss by the Miami Tridents RFC, also with five wins and four losses, to move up to fourth place and secure the last playoff spot in the FRU.
Daytona is winless in nine games, but can be dangerous when given the chance. The Miami RFC, also known as the “Bumble Bees”, has the best record in Florida with eight wins and one loss, which was to the Krewe earlier in March. Miami plays the Tridents this weekend, which is the other match of importance for the Krewe. For more information on the Tampa Bay Krewe RFC, please visit the club’s website.
