The second week of Tampa Bay Black Heritage Festival (TBBHF/The Festival) continues. TBBHF is commemorating once again Black Heritage month including Martin Luther King with ten days of cultural events that feature speakers, musicians, artists, poets and crafts.
The Festival with this year's theme Celebrating the Heart and Soul of Tampa Bay started Wednesday, January 16 and ends Saturday the 26th with different activities planned throughout Tampa Bay. It traditionally begins the weekend before and concludes the weekend after Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s holiday to promote diversity and culture providing children and adults an opportunity to increase their awareness of African and African-American culture and history.

Sunday January 20, 2013
Gospel Jazz Sunday - Featuring Tampa’s national recording artists Eric Darius and Nathan Mitchell along with additional artists and groups for a day of entertaining, inspirational and joyful music at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, 600 N Ashley Drive. Even starts at 11:30 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Black Girls ROCK Party - Featuring Mz DJ Tone of Chicago at Skateworld, 7510 Paula Drive from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Plant City MLK Leadership Breakfast - Guest speaker Elder Joe Nathan Halman Jr.from 7:30 a.m. until 9 a.m. at Plant City Hillsborough Community College Trinkle Building, 106 Park Road in Plant City. Heritage Leadeship Luncheon - Guest speaker Shirley Sherrod from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The University Area Community Development Center, 14013 North 22nd Street. Cost $10 per individual plus $1 online processing fee or $125 for a table of 8 plus $5 online processing fee. Saturday, January 26
Black Business Bus Tour - The tour's purpose is to showcase and encourage the investment of black dollars back into the community by supporting local Black owned businesses. Tour is from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. For additional information call 813-394-6363. Seating is limited.
