A few weeks ago, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers revealed their new helmet with an updated logo, but they weren't done with the changes. On Monday, March 3, 2014, they decided to show some more changes and Buccaneers.com unveiled the brand new uniforms that the Buccaneers will play in for the upcoming 2014 season.
Nike and the team revealed their new NFL Nike Elite 51 Uniform design, and it's an interesting look. The new design actually brings together the team's original looking uniforms with their second uniforms that they began using in 1997.
"Today marks the culmination of more than two years of research and planning to bring the Tampa Bay Buccaneers into a new and exciting era of our history," said Buccaneers co-chairman Edward Glazer. "We worked closely with our partners at Nike to design a uniform that would set the standard for both design and functionality. The result is a sleek, modern design that honors our championship past while also establishing a new, bolder identity moving forward."
Many thought that the Buccaneers' new helmet was going to go back to the days of Bucco Bruce and the orange creamsicle uniforms. That didn't happen, but Nike did bring in touches of the old and touches of the new to integrate on the newest uniforms.
The new uniforms have "Buccaneer Red" in homage to the newer uniforms while there is also a "Bay Orange" for the original look that the team had. The Bucs are also the first team in the league to have a reflective chrome border around the jersey numbers, making them easier to read.
Tampa Bay will sport white jerseys and red jerseys this season which will sport the primary flag logo, secondary pirate ship logo, and "BUCS" moniker.
