The 2014 NFL Draft is still about three weeks away, and as usual, the speculation is increasing at a rapid speed. While many smokescreens exist, it is not impossible to see through all of them.
Recently, there was a report from Lance Zierlien of Football Guys about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' interest in Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel. Specifically, Zierlien said that the Buccaneers "love, love, love" Manziel.
"Lovie Smith was at his pro day, and he was there for Mike Evans as well, but I know that Lovie Smith loves Johnny Manziel. I know this for a fact," Zierlien continued.
Team sources have said as much, but weren't quite as emphatic as Zierlien. Buccaneers sources maintained that they have plenty of interest in Manziel, who could provide the team's offense with much-needed firepower, but still have not decided if they would snap him up right away at No. 7 overall if he were to be available.
The general feeling, meanwhile, is that Manziel will likely not be available when the Buccaneers are on the clock in the first round, and the Bucs likely would not trade up to draft him, reasoning that they have other, perhaps more dire needs to address as well, according to sources.
Wide receiver Sammy Watkins remains another extremely viable option for the Buccaneers, who are sitting in a comfortable position in this year's draft.
