Tampa- In many other major cities in the United States, a week is taken out of the year to celebrate craft beer and craft brewers. Nationally, American Craft Beer Week is celebrated during the same week across the nation, but some areas go a step further and celebrate craft beer within their own city or state for an additional week. Cities among this prestigious register are cities like Denver, Portland, Philadelphia, San Diego, and San Francisco. Tampa is quickly becoming a hotbed of craft beer activity, so secret meetings were arranged, the planners got to planning, hatches were battened down, and a Facebook Page was made. March 3rd through March 10th will mark the first annual Tampa Bay Beer Week. The week will begin with the Florida Brewers’ Guild Festival in Ybor City and will conclude with Hunahpu Day at Cigar City Brewing on March 10th.
So far the announcements the organizers have made have been a bit cryptic, but more information will be given as the days of revelry approach. So far events announced range from numerous tap takeovers from Dunedin Brewery, 7venth Sun Brewery, and Cigar City Brewing to an Unfiltered Lager and Hefeweizen Festival to numerous tappings of special kegs to classes and information sessions on home brewing. Events are too numerous to list and too awesome to detail here. Check the Tampa Bay Beer Week Page for more information.
As it says on the web, “At this point, might as well take the week off work. You have plans. Tampa Bay Beer Week.”
