Well, if your Friday night ritual used to be drinking too much in the Mission and then stumbling over to the "Tamale Lady" for a tasty treat, you are in luck because tonight you can relive the dream. For one night only the "Tamale Lady" is teaming up with Uber to give away free on-demand tamales. The one caveat is that you have to do your tamale eating, and possibly your pre-tamale drinking, in the Mission and Lower Haight.
Virginia Ramos is joining forces with the ride sharing service in order to draw attention to her crowd-funding Indiegogo campaign. So far, pledges of just over ten-thousand-dollars have been made towards the 50-thousand-dollars she is hoping to raise before October 24th in order to open up a brick and mortar store.
Free on-demand tamales will be offered beginning at 8:00 tonight through the Uber smartphone app by clicking on the "Tamale Lady" icon. Tamales will be offered on a first click first served basis and will only be available in the Mission and Lower Haight.
