The tallest man got married over the weekend. On Oct. 28, the New York Daily News reported that Sultan Kosen, 30, married 20-year-old Merve Dibo in Turkey. The wedding was lovely and filled with lots of happiness and love -- just as any other wedding -- but there was something different about this bride and groom.
You see Kosen, is the tallest man in the world. He is only one of 10 people to ever top 8 feet according to the report. He's 8-foot-3. The woman that he married was a whopping 2 feet, 7 inches shorter than him. She came up to his waist or perhaps a little higher.
The tallest man got married two years after he stopped growing. Kosen suffers from pituitary gigantism which caused him to grow until 2011. He was given the "world's tallest man" title in 2009 and while most of his life has been about being tall, he's really happy that he fell in love and that he can live a happy, private life with his new wife.
"I'm thrilled to have found the person for me. It was unfortunate that I could not find a suitable girl of my own size. But now I will have my own family and private life," Kosen said.
The tallest man married his bride in a traditional ceremony. He had a custom suit made for the occasion and wore size 28 shoes!
