Pittsburgh girls know and love fashion! They know what colors look good on them, what designer looks they covet, and where to shop. Pittsburgh girls are more than just Pens jerseys and Terrible Towels, they are fashionistas! Mary, a 25 year-old teacher from Pittsburgh gabs about her personal style and fashion!

What is one store you could spend thousands of dollars on clothes in?

That would be fairly easy to do in a number of stores for me. To get my money’s worth, T.J. Maxx or Marshall’s would be great to snag some really great designer deals. It’s easy for me to spend hours in either store searching for great deals and finds. Also, J.Crew. I love their prints and the way they put a modern spin on classic looks. Now as for online shopping, where I do a good portion of my shopping, I’d have to say I could easily order from that site every day with their daily sales.

What is your favorite Pittsburgh mall?

Ross Park Mall is a great place to go for designer finds and some more savvy options as well in the Pittsburgh area.

What color do you think you look best in?

I’ve never been one to shy away from color, so I wear most colors, but one has to be careful to make sure a color complements one’s skin tone and does not drown them out. For me, I always think blue complements me the best. It brings out my blue eyes and complements my blond hair.

What is one piece in your wardrobe you could never live without?

There are many items that I would consider essential staples of my wardrobe, but this winter it has definitely been the cable knit sweater. Whatever form, style or color, the cable knit sweater has been my staple this winter. They’re easy to dress up or down and can be worn with a number of items from shorts, jeans, skirts and over dresses. I have added a good number of cable knit sweaters to my “collection” this winter alone.

What is your favorite cut of jeans?

I’m a skinny leg jean, in a dark wash, girl all the way. They look great with flats or heels and are versatile. Though, I am currently in the search for some great boyfriend jeans for those more casual days.

What is your ideal winter coat?

This winter it has been brutally cold and I have relied on some great long wool coats to keep me warm. I got a good deal on a camel- colored, long wool coat with some leather accents a couple of months ago and it is my go-to.

What is your favorite kind of dress?

Asking me to pick a favorite kind of dress is like asking a Meryl Streep fanatic which one of her films is their favorite. There are just too many good ones to choose from. Maxi dresses, shift dresses, shirt dresses, fit and flare, and sweater dresses are all wonderful; there aren’t many styles I don’t like. I can't get enough dresses.

What is your favorite type of footwear?

This one is tough to answer because I have a slight obsession with shoes. I have a love for most styles of shoes, but a classic pump would be an easy choice. A classic pointed-toe pump in a neutral tone will go with anything and never go out of style.

Money is no object, who is your favorite luxury fashion brand?

In my eyes, Chanel rarely does any wrong. I also love the classic looks from Michael Kors and from the recent Spring and Fall fashion shows, I loved looks from Giambattista Valli and Burberry Prorsum. I could go on and on. As you can see, I am rather indecisive and can rarely pick a favorite when it comes to anything.
