Talk Like a Pirate Day is September 19, 2010. Pirates spark the curiosity of children and parents alike. When curiosity arises, it is a great opportunity for parents to create a fun learning experience. Barefoot Books has several fun and engaging ways to help your little pirate enjoy not only talking like a pirate, but learning along the way.

Potside Pirates, an animated sing along will be available on September 17th. This video combined with their Parrott Puppets and an eye patch is sure to make a hit with the youngest of pirates! By spending some time on the Barefoot Books website you will also discover other books and puzzles, along with Macaw Puppet that would be great for the pirate within your little one.

Are you a homeschooling mom? Have you considered a unit study on pirates? What a great way to have a few days of creative fun. This could include art, music, reading, spelling, and history of course. There are so many ways to make learning about pirates, educational as well as fun.  Homeschooling moms can also become subscribers of the St. Louis Homeschool Examiner, to learn more about events in the area that are educational and great for family education.

Don’t forget to visit the Pirate Festival held in Wentzville at Rotary Park.
