Taliban video of solider released by Taliban on Christmas Day (see video). The US military has criticized the Taliban for the release of a video of a captured solider on Christmas Day.
Private Bowe Robert Bergdahl identifies himself in the video. After the video, a Taliban spokesman calls for the release of captured insurgents in exchange for Private Bergdahl. He disappeared sometime after he finished his shift on the night of June 29, 2009.
The military has confirmed that the man in the video is Private Bowe Robert Bergdahl, and they believe that Bergdahl is reading a prepared statement.
Bergdahl is wearing US Army combat fatigues, missing the name tag and rank, and he states that has been treated humanely. He said that America has lost any hope of winning the Afghan war, and that US political leaders cannot be trusted (he specifically mentions Bush and Obama). He also states that the Afghanistan opponents are “very smart” and have “perfected” warfare, CNN reported.
The military has stated that this video cannot be considered proof of life, because it is uncertain when it was taken. The net buzz on this video is hot because it was released Christmas Day, and because people would like to know if the US solider is ok. See video below.
