Talia, Queen of the Undead, joins the ranks of the Immortals in Petroglyph’s Rise of the Immortals this week alongside a Halloween-themed patch that brings some ghoulish atmosphere to the social hub as well as a variety of other changes and fixes. The creeps have also been changed for the holiday; players will enjoy facing off against skeleton and ghost minions instead of the standard troops.
Talia is a bursty assassin character hinging on life mechanics, the first character in Rise of Immortals to operate on a system that doesn’t utilize mana. Talia pays with life to use her skills and abilities, so some lifeleech gear and judicious use of her Vampiric Lust to load up on hit points are essential.
Talia is very much an “anti-carry” carry, able to quickly teleport to foes and immobilize them while hitting for increased damage to punctured defenses. Talia’s ultimate ability, Succubus Lure, allows her to pick out and punish squishy or hard-hitting targets and drag them out from the protection of teammates and focus them down.
Talia can benefit greatly from life leech, damage, and cooldown reduction items. Some armor and hit points wouldn’t hurt either, as Talia may be able to dish it out very effectively but absolutely withers under duress from the slightest harassment, so laning against opponents like Lazarus may be difficult until you’ve acquired enough gear to get going.
Later on in the game Talia can really shine, as you’ll never find yourself low on mana and unable to perform abilities – simply getting into the mix and murdering will keep your health high enough to continue dishing out carnage. The flip side is that you’ll glean no benefits from spirit leech items or having a Vizen on your team, but Talia is alright with that.
Talia’s signature ability, Crimson Mist, can swing a team battle like none other. If the other team isn’t paying careful attention, an all out team assault can be rendered completely ineffective – leaving your team fully healed and the opposition completely annihilated. However, since Crimson Mist relies on opponent error, it is likely to be used as a strictly defensive/escape mechanism or in forced situations against more skilled players.
Talia is available for the same prestige cost as other Immortals (2500) or 500 cash shop points.
