Tales of Vesperia cover.
Tales of Vesperia for the Playstation 3 had a strong debut week in Japan with more than 200,000 copies sold according to the latest Media Create figures. That is quite impressive considering that the Xbox 360 version (which was released on August 7, 2008) sold just 178,557 copies in the same region at the end of 2008. Hopefully, the strong sales in Japan will result in Bandai Namco localizing the Playstation 3 game for the western audience.
Tales of Vesperia is just a little below the top two software sellers, Pokemon SoulSilver and HeartGold for the Nintendo DS. According to Media Create, here are the top ten best-selling games of the week ending September 20th for Japan:
1. Pokemon SoulSilver (Nintendo DS) – 223,000
2. Pokemon HeartGold (Nintendo DS) – 221,000
3. Tales of Vesperia (Playstation 3) – 217,000
4. Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu Portable 4 (PSP) – 104,000
5. SaGa 2: Hihou Densetsu - Goddess of Destiny (Nintendo DS) – 92,000
6. Tomodachi Collection (Nintendo DS) – 73,000
7. Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Tag Force 4 (PSP) – 51,000
8. Ys Seven (PSP) – 33,000
