In a surprise announcement from the VGX awards this past weekend, Gearbox Software President Randy Pitchford revealed that there is a new story-driven series for Borderlands that is currently in the works from developer Telltale Games. According to a report by VG247 on Dec 8, the episodic content is a collaboration between both developers and will use assets from the Borderlands in order to expand the franchise’s story though Telltale Games formula that won the studio critical acclaim with The Walking Dead: Season One.

The new series is called Tales from the Borderlands and will feature existing Borderlands characters, such as Marcus, alongside the introduction of all-new characters that are being described as “wanna-be Vault Hunters.” Much to the rejoice of many fans, the game’s first reveal also confirmed that Borderlands 2’s charismatic villain, Handsome Jack, will once again be returning.

Like other Telltale Games titles before it, Tales from the Borderlands will be episodically released with decisions made on in one segment affecting future episodes.
