Elle Alexander says she likes to bowl and she spent most of Saturday night at AMF Woodlake Lanes in Woodland Hills, but she didn’t come close to picking up a bowling ball.

“If I bowled, it would be mayhem here,” said Alexander, laughing.

Alexander was one of a group of people with key roles: organizing the 15th annual bowling tournament of the Stuntwomen’s Assn. of Motion Pictures.

More than 200 spirited stunt people showed for the event and filled all 32 lanes. Many were dressed in costume in keeping with the “Totally ’80s” theme.

Alexander, a Long Beach resident, is the vice president of the stuntwomen’s association and an acclaimed stuntwoman who has appeared in many major feature films and television shows. Alexander was a multi-sport star in high school and college.

She’s been distinguishing herself in such stunts as fire burns and fights. (More information on Alexander can be found on her website, www.ellealexander.com.)

The very attractive Alexander now is the main double for Sigourney Weaver and has served as a double for Geena Davis, among other celebrities. Alexander is a good fit for Davis because she not only resembles her, but they are similar heights. “I’m super tall,” Alexander said. “[Geena’s] six feet and I’m 5-11.”

So how does a stuntwoman fare financially?

“It’s always up and down,” said Alexander, who doubles for Kristin Johnston on the current show, "The Exes." “You never know. Some years are better than other ones.”

That’s pretty similar to the fate of bowlers, so Alexander was in the right venue Saturday night.
