On Saturday, May 3rd at MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. (45-0, 26 KO's) and Marcos Maidana (35-3, 31 KO's) will headline a PPV event put on by Showtime and Golden Boy Promotions. This will be for their WBA and WBC welterweight title belts. Say what you will, nevertheless, the undercard for this matchup labeled 'The Moment,' could be considered as potent as one can get. The talent on this one is stacked and the desperation to win couldn't be greater.

Amir Khan (28-3, 19 KO's), who was originally the front runner to challenge Mayweather on this day, ended up on this same fight card challenging Luis Collazo (35-5, 18 KO's). Khan is a former two-time light welterweight world champion who held the WBO, WBA and IBF titles at one time. He's been known to journey up to the welterweight division at any given moment.

Rumors buzzed all around the boxing world that Khan was very disappointed after Mayweather chose Maidana over him. If it’s true and there are several media sources who say that it is, Khan should hurry up and put that behind him because the opponent he's facing next [Luis Collazo] is no joke. He has literally been in the ring with top elite fighters. He lost his WBA title belt in 2006 against Ricky Hatton, which some said was too close to call. He suffered defeats shortly there afterwards from Shane Mosley and Andre Berto.

Collazo has won his last four fights with his most recent being a second round knockout over former welterweight champion Victor Ortiz back in January 2014. He is a very formidable opponent for Khan and if he beats him, he catapults himself right back into the limelight. Bigger purses lie ahead for him. If Khan should win and look good doing it, he should be in line to get a crack at Mayweather soon. Of course, Manny Pacquiao is who everyone wants to see next in the ring with the pound for pound king.

On this same fight card is Adrien Broner (27-1, 22 KO's), who recently lost his WBA title belt to Maidana back in December 2013, will be fighting Carlos Molina (17-1-1, 7 KO's). Broner has a chance to put the loss against Maidana behind him with an impressive performance against Molina, primarily if he wins by knockout or by TKO stoppage.

Super middleweights Marcos Antonio Periban (20-1-1, 13 KO's) will do battle against J’Leon Love (17-0, 10 KO's). These two fighters should heat things up a bit, especially if they go all out to get the win. The stage couldn't get much larger for any fighter whose trying to showcase their talent. It should be a great night of boxing for fight fans that anxiously wait on these events. After all, it's a Floyd Mayweather Jr. affair, better known as TMT.
