The award winning casting team that brought you talent on "Scrubs" and "Cougar Town" are conducting a talent search to find a college aged male to co-star with Colin Ferguson in a new single-camera FOX comedy series titled "Like Father". Anyone who fits the character description can email a link to a YouTube audition video. In addition to this talent search, the extras casting company will be hiring numerous college age extras to appear on the show.
"Like Father" is being produced by Doozer Productions. Doozer was founded by Bill Lawrence, creator of Scrubs. Besides Scrubs, Doozer produced the MTV animation "Clone High," the ABC comedies "Cougar Town" and "Scrubs," and an NBC telefilm written by Bill Lawrence titled Confessions of a Dog. Lawrence has been nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards. Also producing "Like Father" for Doozer is Jeff Ingold. The company's name is taken from a Fraggle Rock character and Bill Lawrence's nickname. Entertainment President Kevin Reilly will oversee production for Fox. (continued below)
In addition to producing "Like Father", Bill Lawrence will direct the pilot episode from a script that he wrote himself. The show is based on Lawrence's own personal father-son relationship. The series is about a widower who moves into his son's college campus apartment to reconnect, and ends up having a ton of fun as well as being a strong influence on his son's life. This pilot is the first that Lawrence has written himself since his popular Golden Globe nominated series "Scrubs" and the first pilot pickup for his Doozer Productions since the company moved from ABC Studios to Warner Bros.
