This year’s Super Bowl 48 gave many football fans and players a reason to cheer before, during and after the game Sunday. It’s an event like no other. The accompanying slideshow focuses on several of the non-game distractions and attractions that make an event like this so unique.

This year’s Super Bowl was held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey – the home of the New York Giants and New York Jets. Some of the non-game highlights included experiences like a giant virtual group video game and a giant blow-up Wilson NFL football where fans could pose for photographs.

Plenty of fans were clicking away in the stands or just staring silently, mesmerized by the giant spectacle. There were the pre-game, half-time and post-game fireworks show that included large military helicopters flying overhead. Fans pointed up in awe.

The halftime show featured Bruno Mars, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and a light and fireworks show for the ages.

And in the post-game press conference tent there were the smiles of champions and the pain of another team’s loss.
