Tiffany Rubin’s daring story is the Lifetime Movie on Monday night. After her son, Kobe, was kidnapped and taken to South Korea in 2008, the mother decided to go after him and bring her family back together. While the made for television movie stars Taraji P. Henson, the story ‘Taken From Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story’ is real and it happened to Tiffany Rubin.
For seven months Tiffany’s child was missing and her former boyfriend took the kid to South Korea in 2008 without permission. Knowing that her child was missing, Rubin had a long struggling seven months before she got him back.
“Kobe was always number one in my life. He was seeing his father even though I was warned by people to be careful, but I thought it was better for him to have his father in his life,” Tiffany Rubin tells Lifetime in the new interview released. “I’ve learned that I need to follow my gut instinct and to treasure every moment.”
The happy ending to the movie with the return of Kobe to his mother is one of few children returned. Child abductions are serious when they happen and international abductions are even more difficult with daunting international laws to be followed. However, that didn’t stop Tiffany Rubin from working through the red tape and she doesn’t think it should stop anyone else either.
“If you’re a parent who ends up in my position, follow your gut and don’t lose hope.”
Taken From Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story is on Lifetime January 31. Plus the behind the scenes look at the woman who brought home her son is in a documentary entitled 'Beyond the Headlines: The Tiffany Rubin Story.' It will immediately follow the movie on Lifetime.
