Sports Radio 810 here in Kansas City is sponsoring a day at the pool with your pooch to raise money for local shelters and the parks and recreation department. The event is at Springs Aquatic Center at 9400 North Congress on Wednesday Sept. 9 from 4-7pm.  Pre-registration has closed, but you can still sign up the day of the event.  It's only 10 bucks to let Fido swim and you will be helping out some great local shelters!

Kevin Kietzman, Gary Lezak, and Holly Starr will be on hand to share in the fun and say hello!  A Live broadcast, giveaways, and contests will all take place throughout the evening. The sponsors will be there as well to hand out goodies to all pet owners as well.

I thought I'd mention a few tips for taking your dog to the pool to make the event enjoyable and safe for both you and your pet. It may seem obvious, but make sure your dog enjoys the water before you go to the pool.  Don't assume all dogs love to swim! If you already know that your dog loves to swim, be sure that he is socialized as well.  It can become a little crazy when a lot of dogs are in the water so it's best if your dog has a friendly disposition towards other dogs.  Remember to keep an eye on your dog at all times, both in and out of the water.  Bring along enough towels, and something they can lay on that's dry for the car ride home.

Enjoy this fun way to end the summer with your dog and help good charities as well!
