The shorter daylight hours in winter months may have you feeling a little blue. Why not try an all natural cure for those winter blues. Add some color to your life by attending one or both creative arts programs offered by Cleveland Metroparks Look About Lodge.
The first program, "Create Art in Nature" is on Saturday, January 21 from 10 a.m. to noon and repeats at 1 to 3 p.m. at Look About Lodge in South Chagrin Reservation. Using the winter landscape as inspiration, pen and ink works of art will be created based on the sights of the season. No artistic experience necessary. Supplies are provided. Dress for the weather, as the program will be conducted both indoors and outdoors. Registration is required for this ages 12 and older program.
The second program, "Nature Writing: Crows in Winter," takes flight on Saturday, January 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Look About Lodge in South Chagrin Reservation. With their loud "caws" and black feathers, crows appear to be sinister birds. But actually, crows are smart and social. Search for crows in the winter woodlands and write about their surprising habits, abilities and close family bonds. Writers Jenny Clark and Linda Tuthill will lead participants through the creative writing process by using writing prompts. Dress for the weather, as the program will be conducted both indoors and outdoors. Registration, by January 25, and a $25 fee are required for this ages 16 and older program.
Look About Lodge is located at 37374 Miles Road in South Chagrin Reservation, between SOM Center Road/Route 91 and Chagrin River Road in Bentleyville.
