Disneyland in California is a great place to take a child in a wheelchair. There is plenty of room to move around in the shops with a chair and the cast members are eager to make children of all ability levels have a great time. If the child is able to leave the chair and sit in a lap or next to you, the bench style seating that is on most rides is perfect. Some of the rides have one of their "cars" or "boats" outfitted with adaptive equipment so that the wheelchair can roll right in. Each ride has a way for the rider to reach the ride, usually via the exit or the FastPass line. Cast members attending the ride are very helpful in getting wheelchair users and their families on and off the rides. Another issue for families sometimes is finding a big enough bathroom. The handicapped bathrooms are big enough and at guest services you can even get a map of all their locations. So don't be afraid to take your wheelchair driving prince or princess to Disneyland, you will all have a great time.
