You can be part of history starting this Thursday, March, 7 when, for the first time ever, adventure travelers will get the chance stand atop Tower Butte, the incredible sandstone pinnacle that rises 5,000 feet above sea level, located in Lake Powell Navajo Tribal Park near Page, Arizona.
The Papillon/Grand Canyon Scenic Group is flying folks on this 40-minute tour that leaves from Las Vegas and Grand Canyon National Park through Nov. 15, 2013. This is bound to be a surreal experiences since you go where man and very few animals have been. “Standing atop the soft, unpacked land of \butte is illusory and a bucket list priority outdoor enthusiasts,” according to Robert Graff, vice president of marketing, The Papillon Group/Grand Canyon Scenic Group.
Tour packages on the private nine-passenger Cessna Caravan aircraft will be available daily from Las Vegas and Grand Canyon National Park. From Las Vegas, prices will be starting from $5,400 per aircraft and from Grand Canyon at $3,450.
With The Papillon/Grand Canyon Scenic Group’s new Tower Butte landing, guests fly by helicopter eastward over Antelope Canyon, the land of the Navajo Nation and then finally, Lake Powell. Once they reach Tower Butte, the helicopter lands. There, guests receive an educational and interpretive experience about Navajo culture and the beauty of the surrounding lands of the Navajo Nation.
The creation of this tour has been years in the making. The Papillon/Grand Canyon Scenic Group and ABEARCO, a premier Navajo owned company, worked closely with Navajo Nation Parks & Recreation to make this a reality. “We are excited ABEARCO selected The Papillon/Grand Canyon Scenic Group as both companies share a common focus in providing visitors a spectacular experience and the commitment to support the Navajo Nation’s tourism and economic development goals here at Lake Powell Navajo Tribal Park,” says Geri Hongeva, media representative, Navajo Nation Parks & Recreation.
The Papillon/Grand Canyon Scenic Group echoes enthusiasm for the partnership. “For the first time, Tower Butte can easily be accessed via our gateway destinations: Page, Las Vegas and Grand Canyon,” says Irit Langness, vice president of sales, The Papillon/Grand Canyon Scenic Group. “We can’t wait for visitors from around the world to experience this adventure.”
