Take note of the new Samsung Galaxy Note

One of my favorite products coming out of the 2012 CES was the Samsung Galaxy Note.

It's bigger that the typical smartphone and a few inches smaller than Samsung's tablets, but if you carry this device, you might be able to eliminate one or two other gadgets that you haul to that day-long meeting or overnight business trip.  That is perfect for us road warriors here in Atlanta that are always looking to lighten out load.

AT&T announced today that the Samsung Galaxy Note will hot stores on February 19. You can also pre order one beginning Feb. 5 for delivery on or before Feb. 17.

The price is set at $299.99 with the standard AT&T agreement.

It's newsworthy and an interesting device because it's the world's first 5.3-inch HD Super AMOLED™ screen (1280x800), one of the largest screens on any smartphone, for sharp, clear colors and readability – both indoors and out. The large, vibrant screen should be easy on the eyes; customers can take full advantage of the large display, to create and consume more.

Each Galaxy Note includes a highly advanced tool called the S Pen, which delivers fast, responsive and precise control to create fine lines and detail on the device display, much like an ink pen and pad of paper. With the S Pen, users can easily sketch drawings, jot down notes, or write emails and texts quickly in your own printing or handwriting.

That brings us to S Memo, an app that captures the output of the S Pen or a screen-capture. This allows for pictures, voice recordings, typed text, handwritten notes or drawings to be combined into a single app, for conversion to a "memo" or your choice of internal or cloud storage.

"The Galaxy Note brings a new level of efficiency to busy customers who would normally rely on multiple devices," said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, Devices, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. "This new breed of smartphone helps consumers accomplish more with a single device than ever before. The unique all-in-one experience can simplify daily life while tapping into AT&T's 4G LTE network to let customers work even faster."

If you are looking for a device that will do a little of everything and not be an addition to your pocket or messenger bag, but something that might replace a device or two that you tote around each day, the Samsung Galaxy Note might be for you.
