'Take Me to the Stellar Awards Emerging Artist Competition' winners named

On Friday, Jan. 17, after reviewing all entrants, winners of the first ever "Take Me to the Stellar Awards Emerging Artist Competition" was announced by the 29th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards. Christopher Smith of Memphis, Tenn. and Jor'Dan Armstrong of Atlanta, Ga. were selected as the winners of the best original song contest.

The Stellar Awards invited participants to upload content via a free downloadable app in hopes of winning a trip to The Stellar Awards, to walk the red carpet and to perform live at an event during the awards weekend. Smith and Armstrong will now perform their winning entries during the Stellar Radio Station of the Year Awards which will be held Saturday, Jan. 18 at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center.

Hosted by "The View's" Sherri Shepherd and "Dish Nation's" breakout star Rickey Smiley, the 29th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards will air live in primetime on the UP Television Network from its new home at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 7 p.m. EST/6 p.m. CST/4 p.m. PST. The Stellar Awards will air in national broadcast syndication in over 200 television markets from January 25 - March 22.
