This time every year I start to get a little antsy. I think it is the combination of snow, cold, college football ending, and not having a paid holiday until Memorial Day. Ouch. At any rate, I do however start to think about baseball. Yes, in January! Reason being: BASEBALL SPRING TRAINING. Where? Scottsdale, AZ; where its warm temperatures, sunshine and love of baseball get me through the winter. I realize I am in Colorado Rockies territory being in Denver, BUT I did just purchase 4 lawn seats for the San Francisco Giants vs. Oakland Athletics for St. Patrick's Day. We've been attending Giants Spring Training games for 3 years now, and it's become a bit of a tradition with a group of our friends.

The Cactus League has 10 stadiums in the greater Phoenix area, all the way out to Surprise and hosts both AL/NL West teams. With 300 days of sunshine a year I can see why there's a league here! http://www.cactusleague.com

Scottsdale is one of my favorite places; it's fun, laid back, great atmosphere, known for its art, cuisine and abundance of watering holes to quench your thirst. The minute we step off our plane at PHX, we are in a cab and off to Loco Patron, which in our opinion has the best fish tacos north od Mexico. $25 Margaritas and buckets of beer are also a favorite. The Salty Seniorita is a pre-game and post-game institution for all Giants Spring Training goers and is typically packed to the gills - but it does have a sweet outdoor patio to people watch and party. http://www.scottsdalecvb.com
