"Take me, I'm yours" - county shelters offer adoption discounts (Photos)

The three Santa Barbara County Animal Shelters are hoping to make it a little easier for you to find your perfect Valentine today, February 14th, through Saturday, the 16th, by offering discounts on all pet adoptions.

In celebration of Valentine's Day, cat and rabbit adoptions will be only $14, while all dog adoptions have been reduced to $41. All of the cuddly (and furry) companions come spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and thoroughly checked over by veterinarians.

While anytime is a good time to adopt, Valentine's is a special day to open your heart to a homeless pet. Pets of all sizes and shapes have been known to help with reducing blood pressure, stress, and, best of all, loneliness.

Plus, at better than half cost, how can you go wrong?

If you're already a pet owner, the County Shelters remind you to make sure your pet is licensed. It's a gift of love, and peace of mind, for a license is a ticket home should you ever become separated. Another great idea is microchipping. For $30 you can provide your pet with a permanent form of identification.

The shelters have dogs, cats, and rabbits, big and small, black and white, and almost every color in between, so stop on by any one of the three convenient locations and listen for that call - "Take me, I'm yours."

Follow your heart to the Santa Barbara Animal Services shelter just off Patterson at 5473 Overpass Overpass Rd. Or, in Lompoc, the County's shelter is located at 1501 W. Central. Just past WalMart, the center is located near the intersection of Central and "V". And, of course, in Santa Maria animal services is located at 548 W. Foster Rd. If you're coming off the 135 just head toward the Sheriff's station. The center will be the second left once you're past.

All three shelters are open Monday through Friday, 10 am to 4:30 pm, and Saturday's 10 am to 4 pm.
