CINEMATOGRAPHY & LIGHTING
July 9 - August 13 | Wednesdays, 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
Tuition: $325 or $310 for Chicago Filmmakers Members
Chicago filmmaker, Slamdance Film Festival entrant and class instructor Jerzy Rose will show students how to achieve a big-budget glow on a tight budget and an HD camera. Digital camera operations, imaging devices, lens options, shooting techniques, 16mm comparisons, and technical and aesthetic differences will be examined as well as lighting fundamentals, the three-point lighting philosophy and other classic lighting styles.
DIRECTING THE ACTOR
August 12 - September 16 | Tuesdays, 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
Tuition: $365 or $350 for Chicago Filmmakers Members
The Award-winning Chicago-based director, writer and actor Stephen Cone will cover directing and acting for the camera, including aesthetics, tone, and text analysis. Ways to build communication between the actor and director and evaluate performances will be addressed as well as comprehending the rehearsal process. Students will work in groups to audition and cast actors, rehearse and develop a scene with scripts and blocking.

The writing and producing team of Junko Kajino and Ed M. Koziarski will relay the importance of pre-production and proper film planning via lectures and seminars covering case studies that illustrate budgeting, scheduling, casting, releases, permits, soliciting investors, script breakdowns, hiring crew, coordinating post-production, festivals and distribution.
