Nights of Shimmering Lights is a drive-through display in the Tampa Bay area. The lighted scenes feature Christmas figures from Santa to the Grinch, a nativity, and cute scenes right out of a story book, as well as a trip under the sea. There's a lot more, but it's hard to describe, so click the video accompanying this article for a drive-through. Hang on to your hats, as the road can be bumpy!
The video doesn't do the display justice, as it's so hard to capture the brilliance of colored lights. You'll see that the displays are just one part of the many things you can do at at this event. Be sure to stop in at the Christmas Village to meet Santa Claus, take a ride on the train, shop for crafts, buy some food and some fresh, hot donuts or cookies, and watch a holiday special on the big projection screen.
Nights of Shimmering Lights is located at the Hillsborough County fairgrounds at 215 Sydney Washer Road in Dover, Florida. It's open nightly from dusk until 9 p.m., or 10 p.m.on Friday and Saturday nights. Admission is charged per car, not per person, so it's a great bargain. You'll find details on their website. The display runs through December 31.
