Several nationwide programs will recognize the upcoming Veterans Day and teach students about the history of veterans.
Educators and students can view a live webcast about veterans’ history on veterans.com on Wednesday, October 21 at 12:00 pm.
“This teach-in will focus on the histories and stories of World War II veterans,” explained Josh Gross of Seldin Gross Communications.
During the teach-in, a panel of scholars and veterans will answer questions from students via video, email, and a live audience consisting of students and teachers from Washington, D.C. area schools.
The program is an extension of “Take a Veteran to School Day,” which runs through Veterans Day, November 11. This program encourages schools to invite veterans to share their stories and be recognized for their service. Complete information can be found at
www.veterans.com.
Educators can find additional information, teacher resources, and tips for conducting oral histories with veterans, in the Teacher Resources section at

Donna, great piece.
My kids love taking their great grandpa, age 90, to school for veterans day and grandparents day. He served on the Arizona and has some stories to tell.
I hope the veterans would use this opportunity to educate kids against going into the military.
