What's better than a field trip that your kids will love? How about a field trip that's not only a kid-pleaser, but is also free?

More than just an office building, the Deere and Company World Headquarters in Moline is open daily for free exploration of tractors, diggers and other large machines. It's a field trip that is sure to delight both parents and children.

On display are both antique and modern models of Deere equipment used in the construction, turf maintenance, farming and forestry industries. Visitors can sit in many of the machines, particularly the modern ones. Special steps are installed on the tall machines, so entering and exiting them is easy.

The headquarters also has video presentations, a timeline of Deere memorabilia and helpful guides who can provide information about Deere history and machines.

A trip to Deere's display floor makes a great field trip for an individual family or a homeschool group. Whether you are wrapping up a unit study on farming or construction, exploring careers or just looking for hands-on fun, a visit to Deere's display floor should be on your must-do list.

The Deere and Company World Headquarters is located at 1 John Deere Place, Moline, Ill. The drive from Peoria takes about one hour and 25 minutes.

The display floor is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday; 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday; and noon-4 p.m., Sunday. The center is closed or has limited hours on major holidays.

There is no cost for admission. Call 800-765-9588 for information.
