This country has developed an everything on the run mentality. Multi-tasking has become a way of life…American’s are said to spend more time working then any other group of people on the planet. For some the more hours you put in the more recognition you get.
We have become a nation that requires everything quick fast and in a hurry!
In the book of Genesis chapter 2:3 it states, By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.
This scripture lesson in particular places emphasis on the importance of rest. You know that GOD didn’t need to rest on the seventh day or any other day for that matter, after all GOD is, GOD the Creator not GOD the created. To suggest that GOD needed to rest ever is minimize creation itself!
Rest is a requirement for good health. Rest is to the body, what gas is to your car! If you don’t take care of the body, it can’t take care of you.
In the wave of advanced technology the American culture unlike most others has really gotten wrapped up in quick, fast, in a hurry mindsets. Multi-tasking is the order of the day. And at the end of the day, the brain does not surrender to rest but turns its focus to what has to be done tomorrow.
Each and every day you should take a moment and stop to smell the roses. Taking a time out from the computer, the phone, the chatter, and just be still and know IAM…Back in the day they called it, check in time, when the entire family would sit out in the back yard on the swing or chase lounge chair, and close their eyes and feel the sun shine down on their faces.
The average American works more than 55 to 60 hours a week that leaves very little time for rest and play. However, it has been documented that when you get the proper rest at night take a couple of mental time outs during the day, the brain becomes more receptive and you have a broader wider sense of clarity and creativity!
