At this time of year, while all the emphasis is on spending large amounts of money to buy gifts for family and friends, it is also important that we remember those less fortunate among us. Whether due to illness or lack of funds there is a large segment of our population that can use a helping hand.

Princess Cruise is a big supporter of heart-healthy living, in particular the AHA - American Heart Association, the largest voluntary health organization that works to prevent, treat and cure heart,stroke and other cardiovascular diseases. These diseases are rated as the nations No.1 and No.3 killers. Now making a donation is as easy as booking this special cruises, which launches Princess's new "cruising for a cause initiative" that donates from special designated cruises to the AHA in the name of the passenger.

The Feburary 10, 2014 five day cruise on the Ruby Princess, is the first of these cruises. It will sail the Western Caribben from Fort Lauderdale, roundtrip, stopping at Grand Cayman and Cozumel. On board will be many 'heart healthy programs' including

(a) healthy cooking demonstrations featuring Celebrity Chef Marc Bynum

(b) Dr. Kathy Magliato, MD, MBA, FACS a nationally recognized expert on heart disease in women

(c) Diana Wentworth the award winning author of "Chicken Soup for the Soul Cook Book" and "Love your Heart", she will be a speaker on board.

and lots more programs showing how to manage stress, diet, sleep and exercise.

A tax-deductible portion of each booking, from, $100 to $300, depending on the cabin booked, will be matched and donated, in the name of the person sailing, to the Heart Association.
