Take a camping vacation this summer

Whether you prefer tent camping, sleeping on the ground or the latest in RV rigs, there’s still plenty of time for that summer camping trip.

It’s a great way to vacation with your family, and maybe even take the dog along. You don’t have to travel far from Kansas City. Regional lakes in Missouri include Smithville Lake and Lake Jacomo. In Kansas, Clinton Lake and Hillsdale Lake are nearby.

State parks offer campgrounds and activities for everyone. Campgrounds range from primitive to full hookups. Not all parks permit pets, so be sure to check out individual campgrounds for their pet policies.

Missouri operates campgrounds at forty state parks and historic sites across the state. For information and reservation information visit http://www.mostateparks.com.

The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism manages twenty-four state parks. All have camping facilities except for Sand Hills and Mushroom Rock. Fifteen parks have cabins. For information on individual parks, visit http://www.kdwpt.state.ks.us/State-Parks.
