Take a break from FIFA World Cup with more soccer

You've been told you are in front of a TV/computer screen watching too much World Cup games. So to prove that you are not addicted to watching the games, you look for other things online or a mobile app. Here's a few diversions.

Online there's Fantasygol.com, a website that allows individuals to play fantasy soccer for free or for real money on a daily and weekly basis. Fantasygol.com customers act as general managers, choosing different players from teams around the world in order to build their dream team. Each chosen team then participates in contests against teams from other customers. Based on the real-life performance of their selected players, customers add up points that translate into real cash earnings.

There is also Mondogoal where fans can choose a fantasy soccer team from players from their favorite leagues, to a daily format. Now, on each matchday or, in many cases, on a set day, a fan can enter their fantasy soccer team against a friend(s) or fellow fan(s) in a head to head battle or multi-team tournament for free or for cash (for fans from the United Kingdom, United States and Canada - and soon other markets). Mondogoal also has a data service deal with Opta Sports (part of the Perform Company) to provide real-time updated fantasy stats for the top leagues and for the World Cup. Mondogoal will be live for every day during the World Cup where there is at least one match played. Starting in August, eight full competitions will be available: Serie A, Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Major League Soccer, Champions League and Europa League.

It may be a campaign of a redesiign for a French fry package, but McDonald's has an app for you. The redesign will treat customers and futbol fans with an exclusive collection of original street art that they say reflects the beauty and passion of the game of futbol. Twelve artists from around the world were chosen to create the special new designs, which will canvas McDonald's Medium and Large fry boxes in the majority of company-owned and franchised restaurants worldwide and trigger the downloadable app, entitled "McDonald's GOL!"
Customers can download the app and begin play as soon as they have their specially-designed fry box in-hand. It's as easy as holding the screen of their mobile device up to the front of the box. As the device recognizes the artwork, a futbol pitch will appear in an AR scene on the screen, with the fry box as the goal and other built-in objects as obstacles. The idea is to "kick" the ball with the flick of a finger and divert or use obstacles to get the ball into the goal.

A more social app, Hot or Not, the pioneer of rating and the game that lets you check out and connect with the hottest people nearby (via a mobile app and Facebook), has released a survey of the hottest soccer players that are competing in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The top five players include:
1. Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal
2. Lars Bender, Germany
3. Lukas Podolski, Germany
4. Julian Draxler, Germany
5. Mario Gotze, Germany
To see the entire list, visit Hot or Not at https://hotornot.com/celebrities/soccer2014. Hot or Not allows users to connect through Facebook, addictively rate users hot or not and even chat with those who have rated them hot too. This sounds like a survey that any girl geek might like. However, there may be new leaders since USA tied Portugal and if USA loses to Germany.
