Fellow New Yorkers, are you as sick of this frigid weather as I am? Today I'm in flannel PJs when I'd prefer to be in a tank top and yoga pants, and I'm planning on avoiding the Super Bowl (I'm a baseball kind of gal). I am soooooo over winter!
I have a little trick that I do when I don't want it to be winter anymore: I simply pretend it's not winter. It's easier than it sounds...especially when you bring in some beauty products to help! No suitcase or bikini required--although maybe you'll want to grab a fruity drink or a couple magazines. Bring these tropical-themed goodies into your bathroom, shut the door, and prepare to embark on a gorgeous and sweet-smelling staycation...
1. Get bubbly. Warm up with a bubble bath! But instead of using your homey-smelling winter scents like vanilla, use something more festive and summery! I recommend Philosophy's Senorita Margarita or Melon Daiquiri. No, you can't drink them--but you can use them to kick off your tropical staycation. Not only can you use these scrumptious scents as bubble baths, you can also wash the scent of winter off your hair and body with them--they're 3-in-1's, which means you can use them as bubble bath, shower gel, and shampoo. So versatile...and so summery!
2. Go coco-nuts! Dylan's Candy Bar lip savers are a delicious little beauty secret. The Coconut Bon-Bon one is incredibly soothing on your winter-worn lips, and the taste of coconut is both tropical and decadent. (Looks like they're discontinuing these, so pick up yours quickly before they're gone for good!) Slather this on while you're relaxing in your bubble-filled, sweetly-scented tub! And try to resist licking it all off...I know that's hard to do since it tastes so good!
3. Get baked. Well, not literally. But you can look like you have a sun-kissed glow even when you haven't really seen the sun for months...and you don't need to go to a tanning place to do it! Once you're out of the tub and all dried off, use some of Lush's Charlotte Island, a light body bronzing tint. Not only does it give your skin a slightly bronzed (not a Lindsay Lohan orange, thank goodness) glow, it also smells like a delicious combination of chocolate and bananas!
We have several more weeks of winter left, but hopefully these tips will warm you up from the inside out--and hopefully they'll help you feel more relaxed and happy, too!
