Many of you remember where you were when you saw a first. The first fire, first car, first girl/guy you had a crush on. I feel the same way about horror. I remember where I was with each significant film in my life. No matter how you may think of it, horror is significant to me (if not would I be doing this?) and The Grudge is one of those movies. Even more than The Ring The Grudge allowed the Japanese culture and their beautiful supernatural story telling to really touch the American audience. The director of that film Takashi Shimizu, returns with his latest installment of terror Tormented.
“Daigo doesn’t speak anymore. Not since he killed that rabbit on the playground at school. His sister, Kiriko, is worried. He’s bullied. He sleepwalks. And their father is no help, trapped in his own grief and illustrating fantasy worlds where families are happily reunited and no one dies. They never should have gone to that 3D movie. The one with the stuffed rabbit that floated out of the screen. Now Daigo is missing. He’s in danger, and Kiriko will have to follow him into a world of nightmares to discover the truth. And the truth is worse than any dream.”
I don’t know about you guys but sounds like a mix of Donnie Darko and Pan’s Labyrinth to me. Not a bad combo as those are both great films as well. Tormented will hit the DVD shelves in April. So if you are ready for some “rabbit horror” then get ready for Tormented and look for a review soon!.
