It's January 2014 and you've probably heard “There's no snow in Tahoe.” Really?! Well, it depends on your expectations and your shredding standards. You can't blame some locals in South Lake Tahoe and North Lake Tahoe for holding out and passing on groomed slopes of unnatural snow. Some folks are powder hounds like that. But there are ski resorts open in Tahoe and that is something to be happy about.

Which ski resort has the most snow right now? In this situation, resorts at higher elevations do not have more snow than the others. It is a safe bet that the larger resorts (read: Squaw, Northstar and Heavenly) are making snow at every below-freezing chance they get, so they should have the most terrain open during the early season. You can also check out www.onthesnow.com/webcams.html for more videos of snow at ski areas worldwide.
When is it going to snow in the Sierra Nevada Mountains?
