Tags tops Day 3* at Indy

After a total washout on Sunday, cars and drivers once again took to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Monday.  When the cool, breezy day ended, Alex Tagliani was fastest at 225.878 mph.

While Tags and Sam Schmidt Motorsports are to be commended, the numbers are deceiving.  His quick lap came with a tow, while Ganassi drivers Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti attained comparable speeds unassisted.  Furthermore, they only ran a COMBINED 18 laps.  They certainly have plenty more in reserve.

Of the 39 cars that recorded a serious time, 35 of them were over 220 mph.  Bump Day will be the most nervewracking in years.

*Of course, thanks to rain, it was really the second day of practice.
