The Ssahng Jeol Bong, more commonly known as the Nanchaku, is a weapon made famous by Bruce Lee in his movies, especially The Way of The Dragon. Countless young fans have tried fashioning this weapon using anything from hand towels to twigs in imitation of the inimitable Bruce Lee.

Tae Kwon Do students at the Fort Collins Paragon Martial Arts School were in luck this weekend, when Lura Roberts, weapon expert, came to conduct a clinic using the double Ssahng Jeol Bong.

Roberts, a fifth-degree black-belt who holds 23 state titles and three national titles in the American Tae Kwon Do Association (ATA), worked with about twenty youngsters and ten adult students in two separate classes.

In turn demonstrating, calling out instructions, and giving individual feedback, Roberts guided these students, most of whom have never handled any martial weapons before, through the basic techniques. By the end of the one-hour clinic, the students were able to perform a complete double Ssahng Jeol Bong form before they went home.
