Who cares about Taco Tuesday when this Monday San Diego celebrates Cinco de Mayo with more than its fair share of taco specials and festive drinks?

If you haven’t heard, there’s a new kid on the downtown block. Not only is Don Chido a short walk to Petco Park for a pre-game party, they are hosting $.55 freshly grilled carne asada street tacos on their patio from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. on May 5th! Enjoy tacos, chips, guac, and homemade agua fresca drinks on Monday with Chef Antonio Friscia in anticipation of the grand opening later this month.

Venga Venga Cantina and Tequila Bar in Chula Vista is celebrating Cinco de Mayo with events leading up to the day. Today, they launch their 1st Annual Guacamole Festival, which will include five combinations of the green good stuff plus offerings of kiwi margaritas and tamarind agua fresca. They take the party into the weekend with:

  • a $6 late night menu on Friday
  • $1 margaritas for a late night happy hour (10 p.m. - 11 p.m.) on Saturday
  • a Bottomless Brunch on Sunday where they will offer a selection of tacos, molletes, guac, in addition to bottomless mimosas, Micheladas, house margaritas, and Bloody Marys all for $35 per person

On Cinco de Mayo, Venga Venga will host live mariachis and a pop-up tequila tasting.

North County residents and those wanting to experience something sweet and unique can try the Margarita Ice Cream Float from Chandler’s in Carlsbad. Enjoy sipping this cocktail while enjoying the warm weather and start your week off right.
